Written by Thiago Peniche
Speaking from Bogotá, Colombia, the PrEP South America project is present at the X Latin American and Caribbean Conference of Social Sciences (CLACSO 2025), one of the most important spaces for academic and political debate in the region.

This Tuesday, June 10th, the project will present a groundbreaking mapping of public policies on Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) for HIV in the 13 countries of South America. The research analyzes how PrEP has been incorporated into the region's health systems, highlighting significant advances, but also gaps and challenges in ensuring equitable access to HIV prevention. The presentation at CLACSO 2025 will be given by the coordinators and researchers of PrEP South America, Kris H. de Oliveira (USP) and André Machado (UEA), and by researcher Breno Ferreira (UFAM).
Held between June 9 and 12, 2025, in Bogotá, the CLACSO 2025 has the theme "Horizons and Transformations for Equality" and brings together researchers from across Latin America and the Caribbean to discuss democracy, rights, inequalities, public policies, and social justice.
